Paula Kavanagh

With over 20 years of experience as a psychologist and educator, Paula has always known that literacy is more than just books – it is the foundation of a healthy and successful life. As the board chair, she wants to foster those positive life outcomes by helping to keep these opportunities local and accessible.
Anne Leavitt
Vice Chair
Anne is retired university professor and senior academic administrator who is committed to the promotion of life-long learning and community literacy.
Margaret Gracie
Secretary
Margaret has been an educator for the past 26 years. She believes in the power of knowledge and giving everyone the opportunity to learn and grow. Being a member of the RCLN allows her to give back to her community and assist others in achieving success.
Katie LeBlanc
Board Member
Katie is recently retired from the Canadian Armed Forces after dedicating 17 years to Health Services. These days, she is often found volunteering within the community or teaching yoga. She is an advocate for physical and mental wellness, and she believes literacy plays an important role in both of these.
Becky Bournoit
Board Member
Becky, a local musician and dedicated volunteer, has resided on Isle Madame for the majority of her life. Currently, she holds the position of manager at the local TV station, Telile, which serves as a significant asset to the community.
Tara Poan
Board Member
Tara’s dedication to community development is the driving force behind her advocacy for literacy. Her passion for both people and community drives her to work towards a future where education is a catalyst for positive change, creating a more inclusive and empowered society.
Ian McKinnon
Board Member
Ian McKinnon is a visual artist who taught and mentored students at NSCADU from 2003 to 2020. He sees himself as someone who provided tools, encouragement and new ways of thinking and seeing that enabled others to discover and pursue their own goals. The RCLN board membership is yet another context to fulfill his understanding of mentorship.
